Yves Citton will discuss the original and powerful theory of the image elaborated by French philosopher Gilbert Simondon during the 1960s, which appears to have had a major influence on Gilles Deleuze’s writing and teaching about cinema. For Simondon, the image is endowed with its own agency: it is constituted through an exchange of information with our environment and acquires autonomous agency as it is transmitted from one individual to another.
